Enable WhatsApp Two-Step Verification
Are you scared that WhatsApp isn’t safe enough for you? Well, to change this, WhatsApp has added a new security feature to secure the app on all platform. It is two-Step verification system which will enhance the safety of your WhatsApp application multiple times. What WhatsApp Two-Step verification will do is that it will stop people from installing the app using your phone number.
How It Stops People From Installing WhatsApp With Your Number?
WhatsApp introduced two-step verification feature in the beta version of the past November. When you need to install your WhatsApp application freshly on a new smartphone, it will prompt a 6-digit passcode. Only by using this passcode, you can install WhatsApp on a new smartphone.
How To Enable WhatsApp Two-Step Verification Feature?
The WhatsApp Two-Step verification feature in optional and you can set it easily as shown below.
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp app and click on the top-right corner for options. Now Click on Settings.
Step 2: Once you open settings, you need to open Account. In the Account category, you will see many different options for Privacy, Security, Change Number, etc. Click on Two-step Verification.
Step 3: Once you click on Two-Step verification, it will tell you what it will do and will give you an option to enable this feature. Click on Enable.
After clicking on enable button, WhatsApp will ask you to enter a 6-digit password/passcode.
Remember: You need to enter a secure passcode that you can remember. You are required to enter this passcode whenever you register your phone with WhatsApp again.
Step 4: Now, the app will ask you to confirm the passcode. After confirming, click Next. Here, you need to enter an Email Address. In case you forget your passcode, WhatsApp will send a new passcode to the email address you have entered.
Once you confirm your email address, it will start applying the Two-step verification feature to your account.
Step 5: It will take a couple of seconds to implement the settings to your account. Once, the settings are applied, you will receive a notification that Two-Step verification is now enabled.
Click on Done to return to the two-step verification menu. Here, you can disable the two-step verification, change your passcode or change your email address.

Why Should You Be Careful With WhatsApp Two-Step Verification?
It is a great feature and by all means, you should use it to secure your WhatsApp application. However, you need to be careful while using this feature. Let me tell you why.
In case you forgot the passcode and didn’t enter an email address (or lost access to the email address), you will not be able to access WhatsApp for 7 days.
During this period, you won’t receive any new message. However, after 7 days period, you can access WhatsApp without the passcode.
You also need to remember that if you have verified WhatsApp after 30 days and you don’t enter a passcode after more than 30 days, you WhatsApp account will be deleted. After that, you will need to create a new account.
