A large group of Pakistani soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a Indian voice call from behind a sand dune. “One Indian Army soldier is better than ten Pakistanis.”
The Pakistani commander quickly sends 10 of his best soldiers over the dune whereupon a gun battle breaks and continues for a few minutes, then silence.
The voice then calls out “One Indian Army soldier is better than fifty Pakistanis.”
Furious, the Pakistani commander sends his next best 50 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.
The Indian voice calls out again “One Indian Army soldier is better than one hundred Pakistanis.”
The enraged Pakistani Commander musters one hundred of his best fighters and sends then across the dune. Gunfire, grenades, machine gun fire, rockets, etc. ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then silence.
Eventually one wounded Pakistani fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his Commander, “Don’t send anymore men, its a trap…there’s two of them!”

Pranav Mistry New Mythology Inspired Technology 'SPARSH'

The research assistant cum PhD candidate at MIT Media Lab and the founder of SixthSense, Pranav Mistry, took the Nasscom Leadership Forum attendees by storm, recently. Science fiction hardly seems reserved for the big screen, but rather achievable at one’s finger tips. Pranav is already famous for the legendary SixthSense technology he had showcased at TED. This time around, the latest in his quiver was the SPARSH project. He demonstrated how it would be possible to transfer data from one device by just a touch, and then copying it to another by touching the other device.

Additionally, every device that’s connected to a network, essentially, have an IP address. It is that IP address that helps uniquely identify any object and just can be controlled with just a flick of a switch on an electronic device. For example, if a lamp in the house can be identified using an IP address, then it can be easily switch off and on by invoking a relevant application on one’s mobile phone. Simple as that! Mistry calls this technology TeleTouch.

He had also showcased a pair of HD glasses that could project any object on the wall, and could also be used to translate any piece of text into one’s native language, a copy of a similar project being currently developed by Google.

The idea behind all these innovations, as Mistry puts it, is to move ahead of the technological limitations and provide a humane touch to it. He also mentions that his main inspirations are Hindu mythological characters.

“Every culture has its own problems and solutions. Hence, I believe that every problem may not necessarily have a technology solution. For example, is a tablet really necessary when the people may not even know how to use it?”

Besides being gifted with power-ups, players can earn them through game play or purchase them.

And — even better — anyone who plays the game between now and Feb. 16 will receive 14 free power-ups as a special Valentine’s Day gift from Angry Birds developer Rovio.

Rovio said it is lining up even more features and gameplay for the Facebook version of the game in the coming weeks.

“This launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook,” Petri Järvilehto, Rovio’s senior vice president of game publishing, said in a statement.

The mobile version of Angry Birds has garnered more than 700 million downloads to date, making it one of the most popular games in history.

Facebook can terminate services of its chief Mark Zuckerberg at any time for any reason, or even without a reason, but the social networking giant’s founder and CEO also enjoys similar exit rights.

Google is out with its first major stable Chrome browser release of 2012. The Chrome 17 browser extends security for users by offering new malware scanning capabilities and patches for at least 20 security vulnerabilities.

Chrome 17 now scans browser downloads to search for malicious executable files. The executable scanning capabilitiy is an extension of Google’s Safe Browsing technology that first debuted in Mozilla Firefox 2.0 in 2006, several years before Chrome even existed. Safe Browsing initially helped to protect users against known bad websites and has improved over the years. With Chrome 17, Safe Browsing checks user-downloaded executable files against a Google list of known good publishers and files to help alert users to potential malware.

“If the executable doesn’t match a whitelist, Chrome checks with Google for more information, such as whether the website you’re accessing hosts a high number of malicious downloads,” Google software engineers Noe Lutz wrote in a blog post.

Security Fixes

Google is also improving security in Chrome 17 by way of at least 20 security patches that fix a range of issues. In total Google is paying security researchers $10,500 in security awards for the reported discoveries. Google pays security researchers for their discoveries as part of the Chromium Awards Program.

Only one of the flaws in the Chrome 17 release is rated as “critical” by Google. The critical flaw is a race condition after a crash of a utility process. A race condition is a type of software defect where shared data is accessed by multiple concurrent threads without proper data access protection. Race Condition flaws can lead to arbitrary code execution as well as data corruption and crashes.

Seven of the flaws fixed in the Chrome 17 stable release are rated as high priority by Google, with so-called “use-after-free” errors accounting for five of those flaws. Use-after-free vulnerabilities occur when a function or process does not properly relinquish a memory block after use, which can potentially enable an attacker to use the same memory block to launch an attack. The high-severity use-after-free errors fixed in Chrome 17 are in stylesheet error handling, CSS handling, SVG layout, PDF garbage collection, and mousemove events.

Even with all the flaws that were fixed in the stable release, Google noted that additional security flaws were fixed during the development process for Chrome 17. Google did not provide details on the fixed flaws other than to note the fact that they paid out security awards to researchers, including a reward of $3133.70 to security researcher Aki Helin of OUSPG (Oulu University Secure Programming Group).

Next Security Steps for Chrome

Looking ahead to future releases of Chrome, Google researcher Adam Langley has noted that SSL security will be enhanced. In a blog post, Langley explained that Google plans to remove OCSP (the Online Certificate Status Protocol). OCSP is a method by which a browser can check whether an SSL certificate is valid. The OCSP approach is faulty according to Langley and he noted that all the major browsers including Microsoft IE, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera today send a software update instead of using OCSP to deal with bad SSL certificates.

“While the benefits of online revocation checking are hard to find, the costs are clear: online revocation checks are slow and compromise privacy,” Langley wrote.

DuckDuckGo, on the other hand, is about as small as a company can be — it has one full-time employee — and has come up with one of the most appealing Google alternatives to date. It doesn’t involve e-mail, maps, real-time results or social networking. It’s just a simple, straightforward search engine that’s reminiscent of early Google, with a no-nonsense privacy policy (it will not store any information that could tie you to your searches). Growing since its launch five years ago, DuckDuckGo is the search engine for the rest of us—those who like their privacy and extra relevance to search results, that is. Google Into Hardware

Google is developing a home entertainment device, according to people with knowledge of the company’s plans.

The device, which exists as a prototype and will eventually be sold as a branded item to consumers, is the company’s most significant venture into hardware. While its initial purpose will be for streaming music, its eventual use could be much larger.

Larry Page, who last year took the reins of the company he co-founded, has been intent on moving into hardware. To compete with Apple and Amazon, Google thinks it has to have greater control over production.

Next week, Google is likely to complete its acquisition of the handset maker Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. That purchase puts Google into direct competition with the phone makers that use its Android software as well as Apple and its iPhone. The leader in desktop search, Google did not want to be left behind as computing went mobile.

Motorola, which made an earlier generation of home entertainment systems before stumbling, is the likely manufacturer of the new device.

A Google spokesman declined to comment.

While Google has talked openly about its designs on consumers’ living rooms, news that the device was becoming a reality surfaced last week in an application the search giant filed with the Federal Communications Commission. In the application, Google said it would begin testing a device it labeled simply an “entertainment device.”

The device will have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and, as Google noted in the application, it will “connect to other home electronics equipment.” The application, which was first reported by the tech website GigaOM, said Google would test the device for stability in employees’ homes through the summer.

Analysts are wary of Google’s venture into the notoriously cutthroat hardware field. Apple has loyal, sometimes fanatical followers, and enviably rich profit margins. Amazon is willing to lose money on its devices and make it up on sales of content. Most other hardware makers have a much tougher slog.

But Google is seen as having little choice.

“Google’s future depends on extending its influence beyond the PC screen,” said James McQuivey, a Forrester analyst. “They’ve made tremendous progress in the mobile phone business, but their attempts to do the same thing with the TV and tablet flopped because the hardware manufacturers they relied on were not able to move fast enough.”

But McQuivey noted that controlling manufacturing meant calling the shots. “It’s quite telling that Amazon introduced its tablet two months ago and is already the second tablet maker in the market,” he said.

Google’s larger goal, a person closely tied to the project said, was to connect everything in the home to the Internet, including light bulbs, speakers and TV sets. The initial version will all be controlled from an Android device.

The first version of Google TV was considered a disaster, both internally and with partners.

Guerrino De Luca, chief executive of Logitech, which manufactured the Google TV set-top box, has acknowledged publicly that Google TV was “a mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature.”

Godse is often a misunderstood character. He is referred to as a Hindu fanatic. It is often hard to understand Godse because the Government of India had suppressed information about him. His court statements, letters etc. were all banned from the public until recently. Judging from his writings one thing becomes very clear – He was no fanatic. His court statements are very well read out and indicate a calm and collected mental disposition. He never even once speaks ill about Gandhi as a person, but only attacks Gandhi’s policies which caused ruin and untold misery to Hindus. Another interesting point to note is that Godse had been working with the Hindu refugees fleeing from Pakistan. He had seen the horrible atrocities committed on them. Many women had their hands cut off, nose cut off, even little girls had been raped mercilessly. Despite this Godse did not harm even single Muslim in India which he could easily have. So it would be a grave mistake to call him a Hindu fanatic.

Let us start by studying the motive behind Godse’s act. By seeing the nature of the assassination in public space and Godse’s act of turning himself over to the Police, we can see that Godse did not do this for personal reasons. He very well knew that he would be hanged and his name would be disgraced as Gandhi was considered a saint. And again Godse could have ran away and escaped punishment. But he did the reverse. He called a police officer and courted arrest. Before we proceed it would be wise to understand the backdrop of the assassination.

The central government had taken a decision — Pakistan will not be given Rs 55 crores. On January 13 Gandhi started a fast unto death that Pakistan must be given the money. On January 13, the central government changed its earlier decision and announced that Pakistan would be given the amount. On January 13, Nathuram decided to assassinate Gandhi.

Nathuram Godse was a learned man, very sharp and intelligent – editor of “Agrani” (one of the most famous newspaper of that time – with Nana Aapte). In his last editorial of “Agrani” which he changed overnight – he said “Gandhi must be stopped – at any cost” and he justified why Gandhiji’s assassination was not only inevitable but also a delayed action, sth tht shud’ve happened LONG AGO.

In Nathuram’s words – ” I don’t refute Gandhi’s theory of non-violence. He may be a saint but he is not a politician. His theory of non-violence denies self-defence and self-interest. The non-violence that defines the fight for survival as violence is a theory not of non-violence but of self-destruction.The division of the nation was an unnecessary decision. What was the percentage of the Muslim population as compared to the population of the nation? There was no need for a separate nation. Had it been a just demand, Maulana Azad would not have stayed back in India. But because Jinnah insisted and because Gandhi took his side, India was divided, in spite of opposition from the nation, the Cabinet. An individual is never greater than a nation.

In a democracy you cannot put forward your demands at knife-point. Jinnah did it and Gandhi stabbed the nation with the same knife. He dissected the land and gave a piece to Pakistan. We did picket that time but in vain. The Father of our Nation went to perform his paternal duties for Pakistan! Gandhi blackmailed the cabinet with his fast unto death. His body, his threats to die are causing the destruction — geographical as well as economical — of the nation. Today, Muslims have taken a part of the nation, tomorrow Sikhs may ask for Punjab. The religions are again dividend into castes, they will demand sub-divisions of the divisions. What remains of the concept of one nation, national integration? Why did we fight the British in unison for independence? Why not separately? Bhagat Singh did not ask only for an independent Punjab or Subhash Chandra Bose for an independent Bengal?

I am going to assassinate him in the open, before the public, because I am going to do it as my duty. If I do it surreptitiously, it becomes a crime in my own eyes. I will not try to escape, I will surrender and naturally I will be hanged. One assassination, one hanging. I don’t want two executions for one assassination and I don’t want your involvement, participation or company. (This was for Nana-Apte and Veer Savarkar as they were against ghandhi’s policies too, Godse wanted to assassinate gandhi all by himself and took promise from Nana Apte that he will continue helping Veer Savarkar in rebuilding India as a strong free nation.)

On January 30, I reached Birla Bhavan at 12 pm. Gandhi was sitting outside on a cot enjoying the sunshine. Vallabhbhai Patel’s granddaughter was sitting at his feet. I had the revolver with me. I could have assassinated him easily then, but I was convinced that his assassination was to be a punishment and a sentence against him, and I would execute him. I wanted witnesses for the execution but there were none. I did not want to escape after the execution as there was not an iota of guilt in my mind. I wanted to surrender, but surrender to whom? There was a good crowd to collect for the evening prayers. I decided on the evening of January 30 as the date for Gandhi’s execution.

Gandhi climbed the steps and came forward. He had kept his hands on the shoulders of the two girls. I wanted just three seconds more. I moved two steps forward and faced Gandhi. Now I wanted to take out the revolver and salute him for whatever sacrifice and service he had made for the nation. One of the two girls was dangerously close to Gandhi and I was afraid that she might be injured in the course of firing. As a precautionary measure I went one more step ahead, bowed before him and gently pushed the girl away from the firing line. The next moment I fired at Gandhi. Gandhi was very weak, there was a feeble sound like ‘aah’ (There are proof that Gandhi did NOT say “Hey Raam” at that time – it’s just made up stuff ) from him and he fell down.

After the firing I raised my hand holding the revolver and shouted, ‘Police, police’. For 30 seconds nobody came forward and I scanned the crowd. I saw a police officer. I signalled to him to come forward and arrest me. He came and caught my wrist, then a second man came and touched the revolver… I let it go…”
