Protect Your Android OS Using these Antivirus Apps
Android OS is not only most popular OS among users, but it certainly is the favourite of hackers as well. According to a report, Android OS is the most targeted OS by hackers. There are apps which contain malicious code and can extract some very vulnerable information about you from your smartphone. There are many ways a hacker can penetrate your Android smartphone, but don’t you worry, because in this article I will list the top 5 awesome Antivirus apps which you can use to defend your precious Android smartphone from evil hackers.
The top 5 Antivirus Apps Are
5). Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes has one of the best anti-malware software for PC. Now, the have also started offering malware protection on android smartphones.
Unlike many other antivirus apps, Malwarebytes isn’t heavy on your OS. So, if you are running an old device (which has low ram and old processor), this is the best app for your smartphone.
It has many great features such as it will neutralise any threat to your phone and it will alert you when you receive a threat in SMS.
4). Lookout Security & Antivirus
Lookout is one of the very first security apps on android. I guess they predicted the threat before anyone else could do. It has many features in the free version which other antivirus apps only provide in paid versions. Some of the features are Theft Alerts, Safe Browsing, Privacy Advisor.
In the premium version of the app, you get Breach reports.
Breach report will alert you whenever a company, app or service you use experiences a data breach. It also offers you the best advice on how best to tackle the data breach situation and protect your private information.
3). 360 Security – Antivirus
360 Security is the most downloaded (over 100 Million Downloads) security app on the Google Play Store. These people didn’t just download it because it is free, they did it because it’s damn good as well.
Using this app, you can scan your smartphone for potential virus/malware and eliminate them in one go. The app has inbuilt cleaner and booster feature which can be used to free up ram and clean junk files.
However, the thing I liked most about this app is the ability to provide password protection for apps. It just comes in handy when you don’t want anyone lurking on your phone.
2). Bitdefender Antivirus Free
Bitdefender, the giant of PC antivirus, have developed their antivirus app for android OS.
One thing you can be rest assured of using Bitdefender is that it has unparallel detection rate of viruses and malware.
This app is so light that it doesn’t even mess with your battery life. You don’t need to be a rocket engineer to use Bitdefender App, as everything is on auto-pilot.
The real-time scanner works 24/7 and catches record 99% of the viruses directed at your Android Smartphone.
1). Kaspersky Antivirus & Security
When it comes to the numero uno of android anti-virus, who comes to mind but Kaspersky. Kaspersky Antivirus & Security app is one of the most highly rated apps on Android OS. It not only scans for malicious apps 24/7, but it also protects your privacy from hackers.
Using this app, you can also block unwanted SMS and calls. It also keeps your financial data safe and blocks any malicious website which attempts to steal your credentials.
You can also use this app to hide you SMS and contacts from prying eyes. The best part is that not only it is but, but it also doesn’t publish any ads on the app. I personally find those ads very very annoying.
Some other Apps I would like to add
Here is a list of apps that didn’t make it to the top 5 android antivirus list, but are quite good:
All the antivirus apps above are great, but they are not 100% fool-proof. There is only 1 app which can save you from 100% attacks, and it is called Brain. Now, don’t go to the Google Play and start searching “Brain” there. I am talking about the Human Brain, your brain.
Use it! It has been proven that if you don’t click on any suspicious links and open some potentially harmful websites, you don’t need any of the apps above. I would also like to add that you should refrain yourself from installing apps from other than the Google Play.
Well, don’t forget to comment if I have missed any great app here or if you would like to add something to this article.
